Sony Will Be Hosting a Free PlayStation Plus Online Multiplayer Weekend

Sony recently shared an exciting announcement for all PlayStation gamers. From June 24-25, the company is offering a free PlayStation Plus online multiplayer weekend. This move is part of a broader celebration to mark the first anniversary of the launch of its new PlayStation Plus tiered plans.

During the event, Sony will allow access to the online multiplayer modes for PS4 and PS5 games without a PlayStation Plus subscription. This event enables all PlayStation Network account holders to dive into the multiplayer experience across various games.

In addition to the multiplayer weekend, Sony is pioneering advancements in cloud services. The company is currently testing a feature to cloud stream supported PS5 games. Upon launch, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will enjoy the ease of playing their favorite games without the necessity of downloading them onto their PS5 console. This feature will apply to PS5 games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue, Game Trials, and other supported digital PS5 titles owned by players.

Sony has also confirmed the games joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue next week. The list includes popular titles like Far Cry 6, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Rogue Legacy 2, Inscription, Soulstice, Tacoma, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Killing Floor 2. A Game Trial for WWE2K23 (PS4) is also available from June 20.

Sony’s announcement also included a series of activities running from June 20 to June 30, as part of the first anniversary of their tiered PlayStation Plus plans. Among these are PlayStation Stars campaigns, where players can earn exclusive digital collectible rings. They’ve also set up a competition with the prize being a PS5 console and a PS VR2 headset.

Sony’s celebration includes a Speedrun Challenge featuring Sackboy a Big Adventure from June 24 to June 25. All players are welcome to participate and have the chance to win a 3-month PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe membership.
